Working closely with inventors and business people, L&A attorneys successfully developed a large, international patent portfolio for a client in the materials sorting industry. The patents covered both the base device and ancillary equipment, as well as methods of operation of the device and equipment. The wide-ranging coverage provided by the patent portfolio helped propel the client to a position of market dominance in its field. When a by-product of the client’s patented technology turned out to have valuable applications in another field, the client’s market leadership and extensive patent coverage resulted in the client being acquired by a large, international company dominant in that field.
