The Cambridge-based intellectual property law firm, one of the most dynamic IP firms in New England, continues its growth in response to increasing client demands for innovative and responsive intellectual property legal services. The L&A biotechnology and pharmaceutical practice has expanded by more than twenty-five percent this year with the addition of these four technology specialists.

Cristin Berkey‘s practice includes patent prosecution and counseling in all areas of the life sciences, with a focus on genetics, microbiology and immunology. Prior to joining L&A, she was a patent agent at Choate, Hall & Stewart, LLP in Boston. Cristin is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Cristin received a Ph.D. in Genetics and Developmental Biology from Columbia University and she completed her postdoctoral fellowship in infectious disease at Harvard Medical School /Children’s Hospital Boston. As a graduate student, Cristin worked in the laboratory of Marian Carlson. Cristin earned her B.S. in Biology from Tufts University. She attends Boston College Law School and is a 2015 J.D. candidate. Cristin is the author of a number of scientific research articles published in the Journal of Immunology, Cellular Microbiology, Current Genetics, Eukaryotic Cell, and Molecular and Cellular Biology.
Nathan Billings focuses his practice on patent prosecution, due diligence and counseling in the areas of molecular and cell biology, biochemical and molecular diagnostics, molecular genetics, enzyme replacement therapy and gene therapy. Immediately prior to joining L&A, he was a patent agent at Choate, Hall & Stewart, LLP in Boston. Nathan is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Nathan received a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University, and performed his doctoral work in the laboratory of Connie Cepko. Prior to earning his Ph.D., he performed post-graduate work in the laboratory of David Rowitch at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Nathan received his B.S. in Biochemistry, magna cum laude, from Syracuse University. He is the author of numerous published articles and has been a speaker on thyroid hormone signaling and related topics.
Crystal Kellas works with L&A’s biotechnology clients in all aspects of patent prosecution, including diligence and opinion work. Immediately prior to joining L&A, she was a patent agent at Mintz Levin in Boston. Crystal is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Crystal received a Ph.D. in Biology from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and performed her doctoral work in the laboratory of Jacqueline Lees. Prior to earning her Ph.D., she worked at the Salk Institute in the laboratory of Geoff Wahl. Crystal received her B.S. in Molecular Biology from University of California San Diego.
Angelyn Larkin focuses her practice on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications within the chemistry, biochemistry and biotechnology areas. Prior to joining L&A, she was a Ruth L. Kirschstein NIH Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Medical School.
Angelyn received her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she was the recipient of a Wyeth Scholarship and a Janette Houk Fellowship. Prior to graduate school, she was a research associate in chemistry at Seattle Genetics. Angelyn received a B.A. in Chemistry and Political Science, with honors, from Wellesley College. She is the author of several peer-reviewed articles published in Nature Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry.
