Overview

Caroline is an integral part of L&A's Chemical and Materials Science team. Her breadth of experience in chemical, electrical and optical technologies enables her to work with a wide range of clients. Caroline's diverse background includes work on medical devices, sporting equipment, organic and inorganic chemical formulations, natural sweeteners, lighting devices, water treatment, and chemical processing equipment.

Caroline and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She regularly drafts and prosecutes both domestic and foreign patent applications; researchs and executes freedom to operate opinions; conducts prior art patent and scientific literature searches; and researches related to litigation issues. Caroline recently has helped prepare and file a portfolio of patent applications for a client who is introducing a series of products into the marketplace.

Prior to entering intellectual property law, Caroline worked in a number of different areas, including semiconductor processing, optical and electrical measurement devices, adaptive optics manufacturing, environmental remediation techniques, and nanocyrstal display technology.

  • Michigan State University, M.S. in Chemical Engineering: Caroline's thesis focused on two areas: (1) modeling near critical adsorption in porous carbons and (2) chemotactic transport of Pseudomonas sp. strain KC.
  • Albion College, B.A. in Chemistry: Honors Thesis "In-situ bioremediation of PCB contaminated soil."
