Cambridge, MA – Lando & Anastasi, LLP (L&A) is pleased to announce the expansion of its professional team with the addition of five Technology Specialists in recent months. Lachlan M. Blair, Ph.D. has joined L&A’s life sciences practice; Wilhelm E. Liano has joined the chemical and material sciences practice; and Mohamed J. Alghanami, Stephen W. Kerr, and Arash Sayyah, Ph.D. have all joined the firm’s computer technology & software and electronics practices.

It also provides us with a fantastic opportunity to mentor and train these new hires to L&A’s standard of excellence at the earliest stages of their legal careers.”
Lachlan M. Blair, Ph.D. brings extensive experience in synthetic organic chemistry to L&A’s life sciences group, where he assists in the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications, freedom to operate and patentability analyses, and due diligence reviews. Lachlan conducted his post-doctoral research at Boston University, where he focused on the total syntheses of complex indole alkaloids, and the development of MRSA pyruvate kinase inhibitors. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and a B.S. degree in Medicinal Chemistry, with a Biomedical Science minor (with First Class Honors), both from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
Wilhelm E. Liano applies his graduate research on the recyclability of solutions in wastewater and his experience with syntheses of nanoparticle catalysts to his work as a member of L&A’s chemical and material sciences group. He assists with the drafting, preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications in a variety of technologies, including medical devices and water and waste treatments. Wilhelm received his M.S. and B.S. degrees, both in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, from Johns Hopkins University.
Mohamed J. Alghanami focuses his practice on the drafting and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications in the areas of uninterruptible power supplies, power conversion and semiconductor devices. His post-graduate research on exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the realization of the smart grid through examining its potential application and current development across the electricity infrastructure adds to the currency and depth of L&A’s extensive computer technology & software and electronics practices. Mohamed received his M.Sc. degree in Sustainable Energy Futures (with merit) from Imperial College -London, and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University.
Stephen W. Kerr applies his background in various leading edge technologies to the drafting and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications with the firm’s computer technology & software and electronics practices. Prior to joining L&A, Stephen worked at Northrop Grumman, where he was a lead designer for a digital communication interface sub-unit for a classified space program, and where he also worked as a test lead for an RF-signal generator module for a classified radar program. His additional industry experience includes algorithmic development and analysis related to the accuracy of antenna system measurements, digital signal processing, and wireless communication systems. Stephen received his M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
Arash Sayyah, Ph.D. brings deep technical knowledge to his work with L&A’s computer technology & software and electronics practices, where he assists with the drafting and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications. Prior to joining the firm, Arash was a post-doctoral associate at MIT, where he worked on electrostatic projection of grains and powders for industrial manufacturing of coated abrasive articles. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Boston University, where he focused on the mitigation of dust accumulation losses in optical surfaces of solar collectors, such as photovoltaics and concentrated solar power systems. He also performed experimental works in the development and commercialization of electrodynamic screen (EDS) film projects and conducted theoretical studies in the modeling of electric fields and surface adhesion forces. Arash received his M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University.
