Overview
Kayleigh is an intern in L&A’s Chemical & Material Sciences group. She is a candidate for a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University, where she focuses her study on sustainability and green technology. Kayleigh graduated from Northeastern University College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with minors in Mathematics and Law & Public Policy.
Prior to joining L&A, Kayleigh worked as a researcher for Mabrouk Lab, conducting a survey-based study on chemistry graduate student and faculty knowledge of copyright law at multiple research institutions and colleges in Massachusetts. She presented this work at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Northeast Regional Meeting (NERM), the National ACS 2024 Spring Meeting, the New England Association of Chemistry Teachers (NEACT) Annual Summer conference, and the National ACS 2024 Fall Meeting.
During her undergraduate studies, Kayleigh conducted research as an R&D Engineer for Found Energy, where she helped design and fabricate prototype hydrogen-generation systems (10-100 kW), wrote specifications for prototype system components (pumps, sensors, fuel cells, etc.), and supported lab data collection efforts. Additionally, Kayliegh worked as an Innovation Associate at Concentric by Ginkgo Bioworks, where she supported an R&D team in their innovation pipeline, business development, and delivery efforts.
As part of her internship at L&A, Kayleigh is working with our team of attorneys and technical specialists in the Chemical & Materials Sciences group in matters relating to patent preparation and prosecution, and other practice areas, as well as conducting research on a variety of IP-related topics.
