Alvarado v. Her Campus Media, LLC (D. Mass. 21-cv-12128).

New York photographer Jose Alvarado accuses Her Campus Media of taking a photograph he took of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and using it to promote an article concerning Ocasio-Cortez’s plan to bring a Kavanaugh accuser to the State of the Union address in 2019.  Alvarado registered his copyright in the photograph, and says that Her Campus Media removed his copyright management information when they republished the photograph.  He brings counts of copyright infringement and violation of 17 U.S.C. § 1202.  Her Campus Media is a frequent defendant in these kinds of cases, with at least four other cases having been brought in this District in the past several years.
