Caddo Systems Inc. et al. v. Progress Software Corporation (D. Mass. 22-cv-10815) and Jetbrains Incorporated (D. Mass. 22-cv-10867).

  • June 3, 2022

Caddo Systems and 511 Technologies, both of Marshall, Texas, accuse Progress Software and Jetbrains of infringing seven patents relating to navigation within multilevel hierarchical collapsing menu structures.  They assert that Progress offers web navigation software, SiteFinity CMS and Telerik UI for Blazor, that offers breadcrumb widgets, and offer computer equipment that contains this software.  The likewise say that Jetbrains’ Integrated Development Environments application that assists with writing, editing and debugging code, and contains a number of plugins that result in the software infringing the patents.  The Plaintiffs say that Progress infringes directly as well as inducing infringement by Progress customers and contributing to infringement.  The patents in issue have a priority date of June 6, 2002 (although several of the patents have additional life under the patent term adjustment), which may explain why the complaints do not seek any injunctive relief.
