Boston, MA — Lando & Anastasi, LLP (L&A) is pleased to announce our sponsorship of the Life Sciences Patent Network (LSPN) North America – Spring 2026 Conference: “Protecting & Leveraging Innovation in the Life Sciences”. This year’s event is being held April 29–30, 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Among the impressive lineup of more than 60 speakers is L&A partner, Angelyn Larkin, Ph.D., who leads the firm’s fast-growing Life Sciences practice.
Angelyn will lead an in-depth roundtable discussion on obviousness type double patenting (OTDP), a topic that continues to command close attention across the life sciences industry and beyond. Building on recent legal and policy developments, the session will invite participants to engage in small group discussions focused on the practical challenges of preserving full statutory and adjusted patent term while continuing to incentivize innovation, collaboration, and strategic partnering. Angelyn will also share practical strategies for addressing and rebutting OTDP rejections during patent prosecution.
As courts and policymakers continue to refine the contours of nonstatutory double patenting, companies face increasing complexity in identifying and managing the associated risks, particularly as portfolios grow and collaborative research models expand. This interactive discussion will explore how evolving case law and prosecution practices are shaping portfolio strategy today and what patent practitioners should be watching next.
“Obviousness type double patenting remains a critical consideration for companies at every stage of growth, whether they are developing technologies internally or working with strategic partners,” said Angelyn. “Although recent decisions have provided additional clarity in some areas, they have also raised new questions that patent attorneys and in house teams must navigate thoughtfully. I’m looking forward to an interactive discussion with my colleagues from across the life sciences sector about how these issues are playing out in practice and how best to position portfolios for long term value.”
L&A is excited to be participating in LSPN’s premiere life sciences event this spring. Spanning topics from patentability, strategy, prosecution, and litigation, this conference will provide insights across the spectrum of life sciences IP protection. Top firms and speakers from all corners of biotech, pharmaceutical, and medtech will convene in Boston for two days of networking, learning, and advancing the life sciences industry. We look forward to meeting with colleagues, clients, and prospective clients at this event and hearing from other experts in the field on the biggest patent challenges facing the life sciences industry today.
