Samantha is a Technology Specialist in the Life Sciences group, primarily focused on organic chemistry. She assists in drafting and prosecuting U.S. and international patent applications, performs freedom to operate and patentability analyses, and conducts due diligence reviews.
Prior to joining L&A, Samantha earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University where her research was focused on Cu-catalyzed asymmetric reductive coupling. Samantha worked as a Graduate Research Assistant for Professor Joshua D. Sieber while pursuing her graduate studies, and as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory sessions. Samantha also worked as a Licensing Liaison in the VCU Innovation Gateway, Office of Technology Transfer.
Samantha received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Washington State University. She performed undergraduate research on the synthesis of a library of potential inhibitors for Beta-Lactamase C from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb).
Samantha has presented at several U.S. conferences on Cu-Catalyzed reductive coupling of ketones and alleneamides. She has also authored scientific research articles published in Journal of Organic Chemistry, Israel Journal of Chemistry, Organic Letters, and others.
