Overview

Zoe is an intern in L&A’s Chemical & Material Sciences and Mechanical & Industrial groups, where she focuses on matters relating to patent preparation and prosecution, as well as conducting research and writing on a variety of IP topics. She is a recent graduate of Suffolk University Law School, cum laude, a member of the Patent Bar, and candidate for admission to the Massachusetts Bar. Zoe graduated from Union College with a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, in Mechanical Engineering.

While in law school, Zoe served as Managing Editor of the Moot Court Honor Board, Journal of Trial and Appellate Advocacy, where she published articles on topics such as the complexities of copyright statutory damages and willful ignorance of sex trafficking by media companies. She was an SJC Rule 3:03 Student Attorney with the Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship Clinic, a member of the Intellectual Property Law Association, and a member of the Women’s Law Association.

Prior to joining L&A, Zoe acquired legal skills in several different types of law. She was a Summer Associate at an IP boutique where she drafted and prosecuted patent applications, and researched emerging technologies to assess legal implications, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Zoe also worked as a legal intern for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Office of the General Counsel, where she assisted in preparation for trial matters. Additionally, she gained experience as a law clerk at a plaintiff’s law firm, and as a legal intern at the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

During her undergraduate studies, Zoe was part of the National Science Foundation Scholar’s Program, receiving an award that funded several research fellowships and her senior thesis. Her senior thesis, which she presented at the American Chemical Conference, was titled Design and application of tungsten disulfide based electrochemical sensors capable of detecting volatile organic compounds.
